Andrew is a registered psychologist with 15 years experience in counselling. In addition to a thorough familiarity with outcome oriented counselling and cognitive behaviour therapy, Andrew has trained extensively in narrative therapy and has applied this in community development work as well as in individual, family, school and group settings.

Andrew is experienced in dealing with violence, self harm, trauma, alcohol and drug issues, as well as generalised anxiety and depression. One focus of his work is to assist in differentiating these issues and emotions from human existential despair and anxiety.

Andrew is also studying for his PhD through the Monash Asia Institute. His topic began as a Masters research study into culturally responsive practice for African men coming to Tasmania, and he has now published a book chapter summarising this. He is now looking at the radical philosophical and psychological assumptions that underpin western practice, by contrasting with indigenous African ways of understanding human life and community.

Andrew welcomes enquiries about these interests.
